Two drugs, vincristine and vinblastine, have been isolated from the plant and each has been used effectively against a number of different forms of cancer including childhood leukemia and Hodgkin?s disease. In India, this plant has been used by native plant healers to treat diabetes. This species produces flowers of two different colors, as seen here.
