Firewood collection and transportation, Tanzania. Most of Tanzania is savanna, on which a relatively small volume of wood grows. These women have been collecting firewood, which they will probably use soon for cooking. Although their impact on the ecosystem around them is quite obvious when they cut trees and shrubs, people from wealthy nations who heat their homes with fossil fuels contribute far more to the planet?s greenhouse gasses and have a great impact on the planet?s functioning.
