Flamingos feeding near Lake Natron, Tanzania. The two large, pink birds in this image are Greater Flamingos and the smaller, lighter one is a Lesser Flamingo. All three are straining the water in this stream for invertebrates. Over time, carotenoid pigments from their food gives the birds their pink color. Depending on the amount of available food, these two species may be competitors.
