Scorpion and young under normal light. Scorpions fluoresce when placed under ultraviolet light, but do not when under normal light, as in this image. Biologists use battery-powered UV lights to look for them in the field. Scientists are not yet sure why they fluoresce. Compare with the image under UV light.
